Tartan Kilts Galleries
Gordon Modern tartan
The tartan
A clan/family tartan. The Gordon tartan is the regimental tartan of the Gordon Highlanders.
The kilt
My second kilt, bought off the peg around 1997/98. In fact, this kilt, made ny renowned Kinloch Anderson in Edinburgh, is what is called a kilted skirt, meaning it is intended for women to wear. I saw it displayed in a local shop and found it to be kilt enough.
It is a 3-yard skirt in pure new wool, and the main differences compared to a men's kilt are tiny buckles and straps and the tartan weight. Probably it is 8 or perhaps only 6 oz. It feels very lightweight. It is unlined but it closes to the right like mens' kilts.
The kilted skirt is size 18/44 and was shortened by the shop from approx. 25" to 22.5". Today, a similar mini kilt made-to-measures by Kinlock Anderson is close to £300.

White socks are not to everbody's taste. I think, they look ok with the mini kilt.
